Every year since 2000, the color geniuses of Pantone come up with a color of the year. The color for 2014 is “Radiant Orchid”. It was picked out this year in London and was described as “a captivating harmony of fuschia, purple and pink undertones”. Each color represents something for that year and for 2014 Radiant Orchid is supposed to inspire creativity, inspiration, and innovation. I love the idea of a universal color creating the same feelings for all. Although this color is a little brighter than amethyst, I think it really complements the gem.
Here are a few things we are loving in this brilliant hue:
Clockwise from top left: 1. “Kallisto” amethyst necklace with loads of druzy sparkle by Robyn Rhodes | 2. MAC lipstick in “Heroine” |3. Bright coat by Ted Baker | 4. Bold Alice + Olivia pumps | 5. “Celestial Coaster Set” Anthropologie | 6. Clutch by Reed Krakoff | 7. Voluspa candle in “Santiago Huckleberry” (It smells amazing too!) | 8. “Woven swing tank” by Frenchi at Nordstrom |
Weekends call for a few necessities: guilt-free pinning, a Saturday night cocktail, and fun-ready wardrobes. But what’s a great outfit without even better jewelry? Here are a few pieces that are ready for whatever the weekend may bring you…
A feud for the ages. Laid back LA luxe has been fighting for notoriety against the more established and prim New York look for ages. We’re not one to take sides, but here are a few of our favorite girls that make the playing field pretty darn even:
August is here, which means back to school season is upon us! While most of us are past the age of pencil pouches and backpacks, we can’t help but begin buckling down with business and sprucing up our fall wardrobes (or your jewelry boxes). With a few of these pieces you’re sure to get a passing grade…
The monogrammed Lola look is equal parts preppy and edgy
On a recent trip to the Fairfax-Melrose flea market, I found myself under sensory overload. I could not handle seeing all the amazing pieces of jewelry, new and old. I was beyond inspired. Here are a few of my faves:
In the below picture, I started to think how amazing it would be if these shapes were magnets and you could move them around to make different designs. What do you think?
I am so grateful for places like the flea market. Seeing how old can become new again is priceless. I even picked up on a new wiring technique. I cannot wait to incoropate this in a new design. Stay tuned….
If you have a chance to go to flea market, I strongly suggest you do. You never know what you are going to find and hopefully, you will get it for super cheap!!
I would never call myself a photographer, but on one recent hike, I could not help but take pictures throughout my journey….
I have always been inspired by nature and inspired while in nature. This was the first picture I took… my path…
I came across this one tree. Trees have heard and seen it all. This one in particular has a story.
Then I got closer, I was mesmerized by the lines and the cracks in the bark. Just like gemstones, no two trees are alike and have the same markings.
Then I got even closer and saw this round area that might have been a huge branch that had been cut off at one time… It made me think, regardless of circumstance, you just move on and you are going to be okay. You will survive, thrive, and grow through anything.
I highly recommend to take the time to get outside, you never know what you will discover about yourself and your surroundings!
